Welcome to Rockin' Schlager Party No. 3,
this time you get to hear 32 German rock'n'roll and teenbeat gems from the years 1958-63 from my box of records. Many of them are German cover versions of English-language originals and an Adriano Celentano cover by the Missouris. Some of the performers sing in German, but with a bit of an accent, such as Little Gerhard from Sweden, Vittorio Casagrande from Italy, Leroy Van Dyke from the USA or Pirko Manola from Finland. All the songs on this CD have passed my taste test. That means they are "cool" and "danceable". Unfortunately, you can't necessarily say that about many German releases of the time. They were often silly cover versions or jazz interpretations, usually played by orchestras that tended to ridicule rock'n'roll as "jungle music". The selection here shows that things could be different. In short, here are some great exceptions that will make you want to party to more Rockin' Schlager Party.

All recordings were dubbed over from the original 45s, and we tried to get the best possible sound quality for you in the mastering.

The third edition of Rockin’ & Rollin’ Cover Songs is jam-packed with jumping and jiving cover- versions. The American performers and one Canadian sit side by side with Australian and New Zealand-based performers, all of whom rock and roll with panache and stylishness. The music is sourced from 1955 through to 1962, from the domains of, Rhythm & Blues, Rock 'n' Roll, and Doo-Wop music, and the quality dance-tunes is maintained on the final album.
“Koko Mojo Records’ new series Sin On Saturday, Pray On Sunday initiates with three albums (KM-CD-135-136-137). The concept looks at the weekend for the Negro people after the toil of working has ended. On Saturday evening they are sinners; drinking, partying and dancing to Jump Blues music. On Sunday they need redemption from their sins and attend a church where they listen to rousing upbeat Gospel songs. Each album contains twenty-eight up-tempo recordings and maintains Koko Mojo’s principle of "killer and no filler" ideology!”
